As the Chief Executive Officer and a Board Director of Irish Residential Properties REIT Plc (I-RES), Margaret Sweeney needs no introduction. Together with her team at I-RES, Margaret champions excellence in placemaking. With ESG at the heart of the business, the company has strong connections with its local communities. 

 

I-RES is the leading provider of professionally managed private residential rental accommodation in Ireland, with a portfolio of c.4,000 homes. The company delivers high-quality living accommodation and service in well-connected, family-friendly urban communities.


I-RES is a long-term contributor to the Irish residential market, and this year invested some €135 million in 250 homes, supporting much-needed supply of quality private rental accommodation. Key developments this year included the acquisition of the Ashbrook development in Clontarf, which will be delivered over two phases, and the excellent new seafront Tara View development on the Merrion Road. In August 2022 I-RES also delivered The School Yard in Dublin 1, which was Ireland’s first LEED-gold residential development, with residents benefitting from enhanced ventilation systems, efficient water usage and reduced energy consumption, providing a healthier living space and reducing the environmental impact.


Since early 2022, I-RES has been a fully integrated Irish operating company with 90 employees providing an end-to-end customer service. I-RES is also a leader in Diversity & Inclusion, being one of only two Irish companies recognised as a “best practice leader” by the EU’s European Women on Boards initiative. I-RES’ shares are listed on the Euronext Dublin Stock Exchange.  


As one of the most accomplished women in the industry, Margaret is also a Non-Executive Director and Senior Independent Director of Dalata Hotel Group Plc. A fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and a Chartered Director, Margaret is the Chair of the Industry Advisory Board and an Adjunct Professor at Dublin City University (DCU) Business School and has a wide range of personal and professional interests, particularly relating to sustainability and the development of women leaders.
